Characteristics of traditional mercury lamps compared to UV lamps
2025-07-28
The main differences and advantages of UVled curing lamps and traditional mercury lamps are as follows:

1. Service life: The service life of UVLED curing lamps is usually around 20,000 to 30,000 hours, while the service life of mercury lamps is about 800 to 3,000 hours.
2. Environmental protection: UVLED curing lamps are cold light sources, do not generate infrared thermal radiation, and do not generate harmful gases and pollutants, which are safer and more environmentally friendly. In contrast, mercury lamps contain mercury, which is a toxic substance that may pollute the environment.
3. Energy consumption: The energy of UVLED curing lamps is highly concentrated in a certain ultraviolet spectrum segment with effective curing effect, so the energy utilization rate is higher and it is more energy-saving and efficient. The spectrum of mercury lamps contains a large amount of invalid visible light and infrared light components, and the energy utilization rate is low.
4. Start-up speed: UVLED curing lamps can reach 100% power output instantly, and do not need to be preheated for 20-30 minutes like mercury lamps before they can work.
5. Irradiation uniformity: UVLED curing lamps can achieve higher irradiation uniformity due to their special optical design, which is very important for ensuring printing quality. However, the luminous intensity of mercury lamps at both ends along the length of the lamp tube is weaker than that in the middle, and they cannot emit light uniformly.
In summary, UVLED curing lamps have obvious advantages in terms of service life, environmental protection, energy consumption, startup speed and irradiation uniformity.
